- Over 16 years of international professional experience as a health and environmental economist, researcher, manager, evaluator and consultant.
- PhD (1994) in Economic and Business History from European University Institute, thesis published with Cambridge University Press, 3 months researcher’s secondment at London School of Economics.
- Taught over 1.500 university students in Spanish, Italia, English and Dutch, supervised 18 Masters and 5 PhD theses.
- Multi-year contracts as Assistant Professor/Advisor Research Funding Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Maastricht University, The Netherlands (4 years renewable, ongoing), Assistant Professor Ghent University Center for Environmental Economics and Management Belgium (3 years), Center Director & Senior Lecturer School for Field Studies Costa Rica/Turks and Caicos Islands (2 years), Associate Professor at ULACIT and University of Costa Rica (8 years – supervised 5 Ph.D. students).
- Worked in 17 different countries (Netherlands, Kenya, India, China, Belgium, Italy, 7 Central American countries, TCI, Peru, Mexico and USA) and long-term residence in 6 countries.
- Executed projects for World Bank (short-term consultant twice), Inter-American Development Bank, EuropeAid, UNDP, European Commission, Japanese, Swedish and Netherlands International Cooperation Agencies.
