About
Born in Ecuador, Andrés is an economist (Catholic University of Ecuador, Quito). He holds Masters Degrees in Economics; major in Development Economics (Latin American Faculty of Social Science, FLACSO. Best Thesis Award), and in Public Policy and Human Development; Major in Social Policy Financing (Maastricht University. Top 3% and Best Thesis Awards). Currently he is a Research/PhD Fellow at Maastricht Graduate School of Governance and United Nations University – MERIT, Maastricht University. Since 2003 he has worked as researcher and consultant in development economics, public economics and political economics whit focus on poverty and inequality, social protection, microfinance, impact evaluation and policy analysis. Besides, he had served in UNHCR (2008-2010) being on charge of urban refugee’s local integration policies in Ecuador. He has specialized in quantitative methods for social policy analysis and evaluation. He writes on poverty and inequality, socio economic development, social protection and public economics, with occasional excursions into governance and politics.
